Need help with putting my hei distributor in

I let guy next door help me today with replacing intake gasket and just removed hei distributor without marking. I'm not sure what to do because he alsotiming was moved since removed. Small block chevy 350 also should I be lining mark on the 0 or noise don't know much about any of this so the more info the better so its likely all my timing is off please help

Remove No1 spark plug and turn over until you feel compression building, turn till timing mark is at around 5deg BTDC fit distributor with rotor aligned with No1 on cap, this should be close enough to start to then re set timing with timing light.
