Thanks for the advice. It was right on. Fans spin OK now.
Just want to make a few comments.
1. Relay was $50 - yikes! - I remember when a radiator was less then that.
2. Removal and replacement of the relay was fairly easy after the air cleaner assy. Was removed. All the bolts were 8 or 10 mm and easily removed with 1/4"
ratchet.
3. The 4 connector plug connecting the relay to the wiring harness was a bear to remove. Slide the red plastic locking tab to the right to release it. I had to soak the connector with WD40 and pry with a flatblade screwdriver to seperate the connector halves.
4. Finally, be patient after replacing the relay. Fans won't start right away. The water has to warm up a little first. Running the AC will make the fans start sooner, but it still takes a few minutes.
5. One last thing. Relay is solid state - so hard to check with a meter. Input to relay is on pins 1 and 3
output to fan is on 2 (green wire) and 4 (black wire). None of the pairs are completely open or completely shorted so can't really tell if relay is good or bad.
