Windshield Wiper Arms and Snow Build-Up

Hi,

I have a question about windshield wiper arms and snow possibly damaging them. Every time it snows, I make sure to lift my front and rear wiper arms off the front and rear windshields, respectively. I was just wondering whether snow accumulating on the wiper blades and wiper arms in their lifted/raised position can put a damaging weight on the wiper arms, damaging some components of the wiper system?

Please let me know. Thanks.

It shouldn't if they are lifted. Really you only need to break them free prior to using them so they don't get stuck in snow/ice etc.

Thanks. Last time it snowed, I didn't lift the front and rear wipers off of the windshields and they got stuck to the windshields because of ice. So I figured this time around I should lift them off the windshields so they are raised free into the air to prevent ice build-up and the wipers getting stuck.
