Good afternoon.

If the transmission will go into forward and not reverse, the issue is internal in the transmission. It could be a clutch, piston, band or valve body. Someone will need to check the system with a scan tool to monitor applications to confirm.

Okay, reverse is mechanically controlled inside the transmission. It is not electronically controlled at all.

I attached the procedure for checking the line pressure to see if the system can engage. You will need a pressure gauge for this test. You can rent this at a parts store.

Low or no pressure tells you there is an internal leak for application of reverse. That will require an overhaul or replacement.
