There is a constant whining noise coming from the motor more noticeable when driving at slow speeds and even louder when turning the steering wheel. Power steering issue?

Hello,

One of the common signs of power steering issues is humming/whining noise. It will increase as you turn the wheel.

First you need to make sure that the power steering fluid is at the correct level and in good condition.

If the fluid is good, but you can still hear the noise it could be a faulty power steering pump. You might want to isolate the sound by having the engine idle with the hood open and have someone turn the steering wheel. That way you will know if it is from the pump or somewhere else.

Take a look at this guide, it covers the typical power steering issues:

I have attached diagrams for your reference.

Please let me know what you find or if you have any questions.
Thank you.
