Hi, my car recently I had oil change. Same night after work my friend put new wires and spark plugs in it. Two weeks later I notice it wasn't running right especially at take off. I have to use passing gear to get it to go. And it running little over temperature, also very poor mpg.

Hi SBlair,

Assuming it is related to something that was done recently, it is possible that a plug wire came off that wasn't fully seated. Is it running rough at all? In other words, does it feel like it is misfiring? This would explain the sluggish feeling and poor MPG.

If not, I think the best bet is to try and see if there are any diagnostic trouble codes. If there are, that will help us figure this out much quicker. If you don't have a scanner, then I would recommend going to any parts store and they should be able to pull the codes for you.

There is a chance that there is a completely new issue that doesn't have anything to do with what was done which again, is why we would need to see if there are any DTCs in the computer.

Let me know if you have any other questions or send me the DTCs and we can go from there. Thanks

No it's not running rough it just no pick up on gas like when you start out from a stop sign or red light. Even when it it's passing gear it like not getting gas and yes I got codes of 1189,404,463.

P0404 - EGR valve position
P0463 - Fuel level sender position
P1189 - Oil pressure switch signal

I would suggest starting with the EGR valve code. If this is clogged or stuck it will cause slow acceleration because it affects the PCM's ability to maintain the proper air/fuel ratio. Run through the diag and see what you come up with.

The other two look like sensor issues so I don't think they will cause what you are describing. However, I included the diagnostics for them because they should be addressed. Let me know if you have any questions.
