There is a squeak coming from left front wheel sometimes when I depress brakes, sometimes when I am not depressing brakes. Someone said wheel bearing needs replacing. How can I determine if bearing is bad? If so, what is: procedure to change it, any special tools required & difficulty level. Thanks.

Were the brake pads checked?
Bad wheel bearings would emit a groaning noise while travelling and for front wheel, the noise would be more obvious when making turns at curves.

You would need to have the bearings pressed out and this can be done by shops specialising in this.
Other than that there are no special tools except the correct socket and hand tools.
