Engine Mechanical problem
1999 Volvo V70 Front Wheel Drive Automatic 135000 miles

I have the B5254S 5 cylinder 2.4l engine. My car starts and runs well but as I slow down to stop or slow to make a right or left turn my engine cuts off but will restart immediately. The car runs well around town or on the highway and the problem seems to only happen as I slow down and approach 5 to 7 mph. The condition also happens if I have to make a quick stop from any speed, the car will cut off as it slows to about 5 to 7 mph. The car accelerates fine from start to any speed and the problem seems to only show up on slowing to stop or turn. The engine idles at approx 900rpm with ac off and at approx 800 with ac on. My son had a friend check for any stored codes and none were shown. The friend could not offer any sugggestions and my son does not like his mother 's car cutting off so much because of the loss of power to the brakes and steering. Thoughts and suggestions will be appreciated.

You may want clean throttle. For this you would need to remove the throttle to clean out. I also recommend you get the cleaner fom Volvo. If you use carb cleaner you could damage the throttle. The throttle itself could be failing as well. The electronic throttle module is coveved by a 10 year 200,000 mile warranty so you would need to call Volvo to see if it is still covered or not and they would need to diagnose the problem to verify if it is the throttle failing or not. Also have you had campaing 155 done on your car? If not that would be the first step. The campaing is free of charge to you and all that is, is a software upgrade.
