2002 Volvo S60 Four Wheel Drive Manual 90000 miles

Hi,

I have recently been having problems with the dashboard of my S60. After searching forums it seems it is a common problem.

Strangely if the circuit board is bent the dashboard works, so it seemed to be that this was the problem. Our mechanic recommended going to see a specialist to get the circuit board fixed. They confirmed that the circuit was broken and so fixed it.

However the problem is still there and the only solution is to bend the circuit board. We have tried wedging things so that the circuit board is constantly bent but this isn't working.

Volvo have quoted near £1000 for this problem to be fixed and looking at some experiences that people have had with this problem I am extremely reluctant to go down this route.

I have seen 2nd hand dashboard ranging from £50-200 so would prefer to replace the dashboard, however I have concerns that this may not work, do you think I would be able to just plug a replacement straight in?I know that the mileage will be different, but would it function correctly other than this?

Regards
Richard

There is information stored in the cluster that would need to be programmed back to the replacement cluster like the factory tire size for your vehicle and other information. I have not tried programming a used cluster? You should try and look for an independent shop that works on Volvo's and has the equipment for programming control modules and see if they have being able to reprogram used control units?
