Engine Cooling problem
1987 Other Volkswagen Models 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 125k miles
I took the thermostat out, replaced the water pump, flushed the system, fan works, but after warming up the water in the expansion tank starts to boil. There's no bubbles during the warm up time. Is there a possibility theres a air bubble trapped in the cooling system and if so, how do you vent the system?

the engine is designed to run with a thermastat. the fluid it circulating so fast it does not have enough time to cool down. check to make sure there is enough air circulating.
