I have just changed the front brake pads and rotors of my car and noticed that the front left wheel rattles as I drive. It gets progressively worse after driving a while. The vibrations stop when I brake which is why I thought of a brake pad problem. I can feel the vibrations under my feet as I drive. Also, the lug nuts loosen after a short drive so I have to stop and tighten them fairly often. I have tried jacking up the car and tightening the nuts. I checked the caliper bolts, they're tight. While I was changing the rotor I had to move the car having only changed the right rotor and pads. I then changed the other side.
Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Have you checked the wheel bearings?

They are weak in Beetles. I had mine replaced under warranty at only 22,000 miles! Initially dealer told me after test driving car that tires were cupped etc. And that's what was making noice. Actually felt and sounded like a big 4x4 with mud tires. Like a big bumble bee was chasing me. Put new tires but sound and vibration remained. Took it back to dealer, they replaced inner bearings that were worn out.
