Engine Performance problem
1999 Volkswagen Beetle 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual

My 1999 vw, has loss of power feels as if not getting any gas. Checked the fuel pump pressure, and it holds steady at 38 lbs. did as my book said to test the pressure regulator and replaced it. replaced the fuel filter, checked the fuel injectors and they all are working, checked for vaccume leaks and replace any questionable hoses. replaced o-rings on injectors. i'm now at a total loss as what next. it ran excellent prior, died in driveway one day and the problem started

The first component I would test is the MAF (Mass Air Flow meter). It is a very common failure, but you'll need a scan tool to properly read the data it is providing and verify proper function-
2.3 - 3.0 grams per second at idle
9.0-11.0 grams per second at 1500 RPM in Nuetral with a warm engine.
