When I put on the air or the heat it only stays on high even if I turn to lower the vent.

Welcome to 2CarPros.

Do you mean the fan only runs on high, or the air flow only comes from under the dash regardless of setting? If you are referring to fan speed, do you mean it only will work on high and no other speed? If you are referring to air distribution, is there any other setting that works? For example, does defrost work?

Let me know.

Hi Joe,

Yes, fan speed will only run on high, and no other speed and no other setting works. If I turn down the setting it will stop blowing air other then that the A/C and defrost run great on high only not on any other settings. Thank you for your help any recommendation will be appreciated. Please let me know.

Welcome back Avi:

It sounds like you need to replace the blower motor resister. When they fail, the only speed that will work is high.

It isn't an expensive part. The worst part is it is located under the dash and the blower motor needs removed to access it. If you look at the first picture, I circled the resister needing replaced.

Here are the directions for replacing the resister specific to your vehicle. Removal of the blower motor will be listed after these directions. All remaining pics correlate with these directions.

Let me know if this takes care of the problem. If you have questions or need help, let me know. One last thought. It has been a long time since I worked on one of these. The directions indicate having to remove the blower motor. For some reason, I question if you can just unbolt the resister and replace it without the blower motor. Try that first.

Take care and let me know if this fixes your problem.
