Hello good afternoon,

I started the vehicle this morning and the battery light did not disappear and the car was racing. Then suddenly the rev count was not moving either and when I tried to put it into gear it slammed. Also when I touched the accelerator pedal it was not revving out either. As a result, I switched off the vehicle then I went to the fuse box in the trunk and I touched a few fuses and when I restarted the vehicle everything started to work as normal as before. I drove it about 7 miles to work and switched off the engine. Then when I was ready to leave work I switched on the engine and while I was driving home the battery light came on again. Thank you in advance!

Hi,

It sounds like the alternator may be going bad. If it wasn't charging, you need to keep in mind, low voltage will cause a lot of issues on these vehicles such as idle and other electrically controlled components.

Do this: If the engine light is on, we need to check if the alternator is charging. Here is a link that explains how to check one. All you need is a voltmeter or a multimeter.

Do this when the battery light is on and let me know the results.

Joe

Hi,

If you find the alternator here is a link that explains in general how one is replaced:

Here are the directions specific to your vehicle. The attached pics correlate with the directions. Note: Make sure to disconnect the battery before working on the alternator.
