I found a spec sheet that said 8 cylinders (V8) and 16 valves. Doing the math suggested 2 valves per, but I wasn't sure if its information pertained to my truck specifically. Can you explain how you came about that information?
I just want to further educate myself on my truck. Thank you very much.

The service manuals and parts catalog I have access to can decode the VIN. I just pulled up a few different references to make sure. The 8th digit of your VIN is the code for the engine, so if anyone asks you for the 8th digit you'll know why.
If you want to know at a glance, the black rocker covers are on 2-valve engines, 4.6 and 5.4. The silver/gray rocker covers are on the 3-valve versions.
