When I slow down or come to a stop, I have to turn off my truck for a few seconds and start it put I back in gear for the transmission to gradually catch gear.

Hi,

First, make sure the transmission fluid is clean and full. Here is a link you can use to help:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-and-add-transmission-fluid

If that checks good, then I need you to check for diagnostic trouble codes. This vehicle has an OBD1 system that doesn't require a scan tool to retrieve codes. Follow the directions in this link:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/nissan-obd1-diagnostic-trouble-codes-and-retrieval-procedure-1984-to-1994

Let me know what you find. Also, once you have it slowly engage, does it then work properly until you stop again?

I will watch for your reply.

Take care,

Joe
