Transmission shifting hard

I changed the transmission speed sensor and the connector but it is still shifting hard.

Yes and no, sometimes it does not at all and others it does every time.

Most likely you have ether a bad line pressure solenoid or a bad valve body. With that mileage ether one is possible. The pressure regulator bore in the valve body and causes too high and or too low of pressure as well. Thats very common on those. You would have to do some pressure tests which you could do with a transmission pressure gauge set. But you would only be able to test the high and low pressure readings. To truly test the pressure regulator you would also need a scan tool that could perform a step pressure test. That commands the pressure thru the computer at different pressures then you compare it to what is read on the gauge. You could use the gauge to see how the line pressure solenoid is working at the time your testing. With the description of the issue it sounds more like a bad pressure regulator in the valve body.
