After replacing TPMS and after driving for a few miles up to a couple days the TPMS light flashes then goes solid again?

Had all 4 TPMS sensors replaced. We can get them to learn. Light goes out. After driving for a few miles up to a couple days the TPMS light flashes then goes solid again. I've relearned this 3 or 4 times. I have an Autophix scanner that I want to change from full load whatever the options are. Then switch it back. I've seen others say this fixes the issue. However, I need a 5-digit code to go into adaptation. Or could it be that the mechanic used different sensors other than ones from VW. I saw someone said that the valve stem caps need to be the original ones that came with the TPMS sensors because of a special coating. He threw those away. Please help.

Hi,

If the TPMS light flashes, that usually indicates an internal problem in the circuit and not a sensor. Have you tried scanning the can-bus to see if there are any codes related?

CAN stands for controller area network. Basically, the different modules are all tied together via a few wires. This type of scan will retrieve codes regardless of the module storing them. In this case, which would be the TPMS module.

Here is a link that shows how it is done:

Let me know if you have done this or if it is something you can do or have done.

Take care,

Joe

I have an Autophix scanner for VW. But I don't know much about adaption, basic setting, or 5-digit password. I can run a scan where I can go into each one and clear it. Main one that keeps reoccurring is the Gateway, telephone, and Radio.

Hi,

The gateway is likely where there is an issue. Do you have the codes you found?

Let me know.

Hi,

Those gateway codes are related. I believe your vehicle's TIPM is controlled via the brake control module. Were these the only codes you found?

I have a code for each low beam and high beam because I have LEDs. And a high mount brake light. Those are it. The TPMS light flashed went solid. So, I did another relearn. It's been two days, and it hasn't come back on. As far as radio codes. It's a Sony xav-ax1000. If it's not coded right could this cause the gateway, and telephony codes pointing at the radio?

The gateway code you provided only indicates a radio problem. If the radio isn't coded correctly, it shouldn't work. Basically, the vehicle is looking for the radio and is unable to find it. Is this the factory radio?

No, it's not. It's An aftermarket. Sony XAV-AX1000. It was in it when I bought the car. I need the info to try to recode.

That is the likely problem. As far as the coding, you need the code. It usually can be found on a label attached to the side of the radio. The serial number is also stamped on the side of the radio. If the code isn't there, I believe the code can be retrieved using the serial number of the radio. Do you still have the OEM radio? Does the radio work?

I'm seeing a connection between the code you provided and the aftermarket radio. However, I am still trying to link them together with the TPMS issue.

I attached the basic reset for the TPMS system. I suspect you have already tried this.

Let me know.

Joe
