Engine Performance problem
1993 Toyota Pickup 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

dads truck blew head gasket and I just replaced it. Had my head exchanged for another. Compression good, 1 and 4 150 and 2 and 3 170. However I still get some water in oil. Toyota's 22re engine has a good reputation, usually the block has no problems just my luck it might be cracked. Looked fine but thats just my eyes. What are the odds that the new intake gasket isn't sealing or the head from shop is no good?

Hi there,

I would be surprised if the head has a problem, more than likely it will be old gasket material somewhere causing the leak, you will have to start looking as it may be any of the water sealing gaskets.

Ok so I looked for any leak but could not find one. Even with the good amount of steam out the tail pipe I deciding to just let it run and see what happens. Hoping that it was just trapped water still in oil from previous issue. Oil still looks good and now at idle no steam from pipe. Engine runs a little rough. When its given gas at return to idle there is steam at the pipe but it stops again at idle. I cant think anymore anyone have any thoughts

Hi there,

If you have a leak via a gasket problem you should see a pressure drop with a cooling system pressure test, a head check will detect exhaust gasses in the cooling system tis will show a head or head gasket problem.
