Steering problem
1991 Toyota Pickup 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Manual

Ok so I had a seal leaking in my steering gear box it was the seal that went around the short splined shaft that the actual steering linkage coming from steering wheel. I had to remove the front part of the gear box to remove the shaft and seal fixed seal and replaced everything. Now I seem to have alot of steering play making it very difficult to drive. I tried to adjust the steering free play with the screw on top of gear box, but it did not help at all please tell me what I can do to fix this. Did I mess something up or what?

Hi there.

Power steering box's are very precise with the set up and they just cant be pulled down and re built with out doing all the required pre loads and clearance checks, this will have to be check by a steering specialist. I think that you will find it will need to be dismantled and re assembled with the correct procedure and settings.
