Odd Starting problem

My friend drives a 92' Lexus es300 with around 120,000 miles on it. Occasionally the starter makes the same noise as when you try to start a car and it is already running. There have been no other problems and it only comes intermittently. Funny thing is, as soon as she got in my jeep, it did the exact same thing. Hah, I have owned the jeep for 4 years and it has never made that grinding noise on the first start. Is something electronic not telling the starter that the engine is off or what?

If its not too late change the starter. But 1st investigate what the starter relay is actually doing it might be sticking-if its it checks out, concentrate on the starter

I have the same problem as well in my 99 camry v6 132000 miles. The starter continues to turn even when driving. Where do I find this "starter relay". Since I just bought a new starter. (Have not installed yet)

thanks!
