1989 Other Toyota Models Two Wheel Drive Manual

Hi there I have a 1989 toyota starlet ep71, I let my friend borrow my car and he curb the front let wheel, the wheel alignment is out of control and tends to pull left real hard, it squeals when turning hard right. The angle of the front left wheel is toe out I think the term is when the right wheel is straight. Can I reset the toe alignment myself? Oh and tyre has a slow leak will need a new one!

Hi twitcherse,

Firstly you need alignment equipments to adjust the toe in/out unless you know how to use strings to get the reading.

Something had given way/got bent when the vehicle was kerbed.

Hi there so I took it to my mechanics and they put it on the hoist, inspected the tie tod, arms, axles everything and nothing appears to be bent, got a wheel alignment and everything was put back into spec but somehow the car still pulls to the left but not as bad as before, they also inspected the car and couldnt find anything out of the ordinary. Everyone seems puzzled, they say the impact could have shifted the arms slightly?

Hi twitcherse,

Was the steering rack checked? The mounting cushions could have shifted due to the impact and wear.

Was the castor and camber checked? They would provide some data whether any arm is bent. Minimal damages are not easy to detect visually.

Are any arm bushes worn or out of position?
