Engine Mechanical problem
2004 Toyota Landcruiser V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic 63K miles

I took this land cruiser to a toyota dealership in canada for a simple oil and filter change, they changed, I drove it outside less than a km and someone pointed the leak on the road, I took it back to the dealership right away, and returned the truck to them. They said to me there is a sound now like a click kind of sound coming from the bottom part due to oil drained. They said they will fix the truck as they have to order parts from toyota USA. What could have happened to the engine? What are the possible damanges to the engine? Do I have to keep an eye on certain area of mechanism now and ask them? I need a strong advice as to what are the other things I should keep an eye on and confirm with toyota dealership when they hand me over my car back in a week?
I have a feeling that they have used the wrong size filter and it just came out while driving

How much oil was in it when you got it back? None at all?

The oil filter fell off?

Need to know these before I can help decide whats wrong.

What do they say is broken and needs replacement?

There was very little oil left. They opened the bottom part today and they are still in the process of diagnosing, they believe it is the main bearing from the engine. The foreman said "it was due to oil filter" he said he will fix it, I donot know if they can though they are toyota dealer, he also mentioned that the engine will be like new after repair.I am still not impressed and happy.

Yes sir the oil filter fell off in about 10 minutes after they changed, I drove it about less than a mile, I asked them if they have the tools to repair this landcruiser, they said it is not the special engine and is same as toyota sequoia and they said they will have no problem repairing it, still I donot know if they bring it to the perfection.

Thanks once again

If the shop didnt put an oil filter on right I wouldnt trust them doing anything else with my vehicle.

Maybe set it up so they pay the bill or you at another shop since its their fault it wasnt put on right?

If you stick with them they should be able to put it on as the engines are quite similar to other toyota engines.

I would contact the place that messed up the oil change and file a complaint with them and see if they will do the labor or pay for another certified place to do it.
