The fuel pump went on the car. The dealer said the part would be about $800.00. We asked if we provide the part would they repair it? They agreed. They even gave us the part number. We purchased the part, gave it to them and they said that particular car was built in such a month of the year which makes it fall into a catagory of "special" fuel pumps of a "special" type that can only be bought from the Toyota company by them. The pump we bought cannotbe used. We need the 800 dollar one so they say. I ask, what do you think?
P S I am sure all your first thoughts are : is this a girl writing? Well, I am. The action I took so far was to have it towed out of there. ---What is this all about?
thanks.

Run away from that shop and find a different reputable repair shop.

What a load of (you know what :) ).

Corolla's are built in CA. At the N.U.M.M.I. Plant as are Toyota Tacoma's and the Pontiac Vibe.

They are just trying to make an extra $500-600 off you.
