Where is a good place to find a transmission rebuild kit?

Not personally, but I know a guy who is currently going to mechanic school that is going to do it using the shop at school.

Most transmission shops buy from local sources, who only sell as wholesalers, in other words, to commercial shops.

I am sure you could search the internet and find rebuild kits for the Aisian trans.

I would only add that as their components of the auto trans are so complex and specialized these days, many general workshops won't do this them selfs they will sub let this work to a specialist, even then the transmission techs don.T get overhaul kits as such, parts are purchased from their suppliers on a as need basis, some items may be bulk stock nut often they don't even know what they need till the transmission is dismantled and inspected.

Yes, I would agree with Mark, rebuilds are done in a clean room (or close to it), as any small particles floating around in the air can contaminate the trans.
