Electrical problem
1993 Toyota Celica 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

changed the brakes in my girlfriends car yesterday and was looking underneath because she had an oil leak. It was filthy, so I pressure washed the bottom of the car and it died like a block out of the drive way. It started fine, but we stopped because she left her soda on the roof and while we were sitting there it died. It turns over quickly. I used a screwdriver to check for ignition becuase I could smell fuel and there was no ignition. Took the cap and rotor off, both looked to be in almost new condition. Also used a test light to check all 4 wires going into the distributor no power on any. All relays I could find are energizing and all fuses are good. I don't have a service manual and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or have dealt with this before. I'm begging much longer and we're going to be throwing things at each other, I think.

It ended up being the magnetic pickup in the distributor. Haynes manual actually had the resistance requirements it was a pretty big range and only a small percentage out but apparently if it's not like dead center it's an automatic bad. Replaced distributor all is well. I guess it's kind of common anyway good luck to all the rest of you out there.
