Before being stolen my celica ran awesome but recently started overheating. IT still drove great, but as long as I kept water in it and only drov e short distances. (I only had water in the radiator-no antifreeze). Before I even had a chance to get it checked out, some jerk stole my car and it was found 2 days later with the rear window smashed out and the radiator dry as a bone- Im told by the auto parts store it was found at that the guy overheated it and left it there in a hurry. I had a friend take me to tow it home and he discovered that one of the spark plugs wasnt firing and when trying to get it out the tubing came out in chunks- it apparently got so hot it practically melted or something. Anyway, regardless, my awesome little celica STILL wanted to start- the oil still looks fine and theres no smoke or anything. Could it be possible that it could just need new spark plugs/wires or am I going to have to replace the head? Thank you-

Hi there,

If this thief has driven the engine until it stopped due to overheating, you may find that the engine is stuffed, you will have to get the plug out and do a comp test, if it still has reasonable comp, you will have to get the oil pressure checked with a mechanical gauge, these are the basics to see if the engine has suffered any serious damage, start here.
