2002 Toyota Camry 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

We were installing a new battery in my car over the weekend and the wrench we were using fell into the car. It sounded like it hit the bottom of the car, but we have been unable to locate it. We have tried driving it around our neighborhood, but so far it has not fallen out of the car. We had the car in for its annual inspection today and the auto shop looked for the wrench but were unable to find it. My question is, assuming the wrench is still somewhere in the car, does it pose a threat or create a dangerous situation when driving the car? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi eadelviscio,

From an optimistic point of view, since it did not drop off after so long, it could have been lodged in a pocket somewhere and is not likely to drop off and if it drop off, it would just clunk onto the road, no harm done.

A pessimist would say it could drop off any time if vibration during driving dislodges it from position and if it drop off, it could get spun by the road wheels resulting in danger to those who happen to be around.

You decide whether you want to be an optimist or pessimist.
