Engine Performance problem
2000 Toyota Camry 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 235K miles

Sir/Madam,

The belts on Toyota Camry start Squeaking whenever I start it ans tun the AC on. I visited a mechanic ans was told it had several problems:

1) The is leakage in the steering pump this leaking fluids on the belts.
2) The upper level gasket on the engine needs to be replaced.

3) At major belts need to be replaced

Bottom line estimate is about $2000-2500.

I have have this car for a while and it has served me well. My dilemma is whether to invest in the recommended repairs which and keep it for 1-2 years on proceed to get another used vehicle with lower mileage? Thanks.

235,000 is a lot of miles, but how well you maintain the vehicle is more important. You will always have to put money into a vehicle to keep it running. If you have owned this one for a long time then you know what all has been replaced and what hasn't. If you go buy a different vehicle, you may end up paying out much more than repairing this. Ultimately the choice is yours.
