My engine makes a loud humming sound that gets loudest between 30 and 40 mph. Above 40 mph the hum quiets down a bit. The engine does not make the sound while idle. The sound appears to be coming from the left side of the engine. This issue started a few weeks after I had my water pump and timing belt replaced. I'm not sure if the issue is related to this repair but I wanted to include it just in case. I have heard that humming can be caused by a faulty PCV valve. My PCV valve was replaced about 20K miles ago. Would it be worth replacing this?

Its in the engine and not the wheels !

Try to put a pressure on the steering wheel little to the left and then to the right if sound change
suspect wheel bearing

also another possible the idler tensioner for the T belt may be defective
but most the time you can hear it when reving up engine in neutral /park
