1998 Toyota Camry O/D and Engine light

Hi,
I have a Toyota Camry 1998 2.2 ltr automatic transmission.
All of a sudden one morning I started the Car and I noticed the engine light cane on and as I drove a few meters the O/D light started flashing.
The lights are on since a week now. When I start on a normal surface it starts and most likely when it moves to second gear the O/D drive light starts flashing.

The lights came on for the first time about a month ago and automatically went off after 2 – 3 days but now it has still not gone.
Please suggest if I can check or do something.

What you need to do here is get the computer scanned for OBD2 code/s. The computer has indentified a problem within the engine management this is your starting point to find out why the CEL is on.

Hello Rasmataz,
I got a Diagnostic scan done and it came up with a P0500 code - Vehicle Speed Sensor Malfunction which also had a possibility of faulty speed system etc.
So got a similar speedo assembly from my friends car on put it on and it solved the problem, the car is now running fine without any malfunction lights on.
