The light that shows which gear you are in, on the transmission hump, has burned out. Is there an easy way to get under the indicator panel and replace the lamp?

Never use the "easy" word :).

You will have to remove the console to get to light.

Best advice is to get a car repair manual, or go to local community college and get online to Mitchell or Alldata and print instructions.
The CC service is free.
