1997 Toyota Camry 6 cyl Automatic

We've been told we need a new head gasket. Is that a difficult job? Could we do it ourselves? Also the engine light is on all the time but the car runs fine. Is the light on because of the head gasket?

Head gasket replacement is pretty involved, would you like replacement steps? Engine light could be on for many things, take it to local auto part store and ask that they scan your cars trouble codes for you.
