I have a 1994 toyota 4 runner with a V-6 3 liter engine 4wd with 204000 kms, it will shift through all the gears til it is time for the converter to lock up and then it will only do so if I touch the brake pedal, I feel it is a ground problem and is back feeding through the brake light circuit as it won't lock up if the brake light fuse is out, any idea where the the ground wire is for the overdrive main switch is , it seems to have a light circuit in it as well any help would be appreciated thank you

You need to check the operations of these sensors: Coolant Temp. Throttle Position, and Vehicle Speed sensors-these items has to do with proper shifting and lock-up

Note: when the brake is applied the converter unlocks-at the ECM pin STP when brake is applied you should have 12v-not applied 0v

Check all the items above prior to dealing with the solenoids in the tranny.

BTW last Fluid/Filter change on it?
