1994 Toyota 4Runner Intermittent no start

1994 Toyota 4Runner 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

My 4 Runner sometimes won't crank. I had the starter replaced and was told that would fix the problem, but it didn't. What else could be causing this and how can I troubleshoot it myself.

Heres a diagram of the starting system .Check your ignition switch , starter relay and the park /neutral position switch

I had a similar problem I turned out to be the wire from the ignition to the starter a hole had wore through the wire and grounded out onthe firewall.
The is after driving on hot days the starter wont crank maybe thermal protection
