The transmission was recently replaced. Most of the time it doesn't have any problems at all. Then the occasional start after going through first gear, instead of going into 2nd, it just goes into neutral. Then if you slow down to a crawl it will be fine. The toyota service tech thought it was a 1st gear solonoid but even after it was replaced it still did it. Any ideas what the problem could be?

Hi osusae,

Thank you for the donation.

The symptoms seems to indicate a problem with the trans assy rather than the solenoids.

Possible causes are the valve body or a pressure leak in the trans. Since the trans was recently replaced, it should be under warranty and I would suggest getting back to where the trans was replaced to check through. The replaced trans might be failing.
