Car is listed above ht4100. Motor is 1985 Buick Riviera 307. This was supposed to be a direct bolt in. What I noticed is the 307 starter bolts to the block on the same side as the transmission. Am I missing something or was I sent the wrong 307 engine?

Good afternoon,

Okay, I have done this conversion at all. I was told the 307Y motor would go in but there are differences. To be honest, I would have installed the updated 4.5 motor as a replacement.

Yes, the starter is on the other side and you will have to modify the wiring for it as well.

Since this is a carburetor engine, the harness will have to be modified.

What have you done so far as wiring the engine?

Haven't made it that far with the build. But I did figure out the engine will fit. The stater doesn't bolt to the block. Thanks for responding and I'm sure I will have a million other questions.

If I am not mistaken, if you have the 325 3 speed transmission, the starter bolted to the transmission bell housing.
