Speedometer not working

My speedometer quit working. Does it have a cable?

Hello,

An inoperative speedometer can be due to a faulty vehicle speed sensor (VSS).
The VSS sends a signal to the ECM and that gets translated into the speed that you see on the dash.

The VSS is located on the lower rear of the engine (see diagram below).

Keep in mind that this can also be due to a faulty connection or a loose sensor. If the connector gets moisture inside of it or if it is corroded, it will be unable to receive the signal from the sensor to send to the ECM. That will lead to an inoperative speedometer as well.
