Why does my fuel gauge give different info minutes apart?

This AM the gauge showed about 1/8 full. On my way to get gas it registered 1/2 full and then full before dropping down again to 1/2 full. Also the fuel info button (miles left, average mpg and current mpg keep changing. HELP! I'm guessing it's an electrical or computer problem.

Most common reason for that is a faulty fuel sending unit. You would have to fill the tank and see it not reading full then measure the restance from the wires coming from the fuel sensding unit. Also do you have any codes?

Could be a problem with the fuel sending unit and other electrical problems involving the other stuffs
