Driving at more forty miles per hour, on the board the split light appears, each time it passes I can not accelerate until the split light turns off. What can I do?

Hi SIL_ODR

It sounds like we have an issue with one of the speed sensors or the traction control system itself. This "Slip" light or traction control light is indicating that the ABS module thinks one or more of the tires are slipping and in general it removes power from that tire and gives it to the tires that are not slipping.

The fact that you cannot accelerate until the light turns off sounds like the ABS module is preventing the vehicle from gaining speed. This would be by design because if you have a loss of traction then an increase in speed would only make a bad situation worse. Clearly, you are not actually losing traction but the ABS module thinks you are.

Below is a link to a guide that can help you figure out if you have an issue with a speed sensor. Also, I attached an illustration of your traction control system which shows the location of all these components.

Lastly, I imagine with this system activating like this, there are some diagnostic trouble codes or DTCs in the related modules. If you are able to provide those, I can get you some more info because they will either confirm what I stated here or point us in a different direction. If you do not have the ability to pull the DTCs, then most part stores offer a free service where they will provide them for you.

Please let me know if you need more assistance and I will be happy to help. Thanks

Kenny.
