Shorts in blinkers

My headlights go off when I use my blinkers and my brights do not stay on.

Most likely issue would be a bad combination switch. Item five in the picture. You remove the steering wheel, the upper and lower trim covers and then the switch. Route the cable on the replacement back down through the column and connect it.

Mark the steering wheels position on the shaft before you remove it and lock the steering so the wheels can move.
There are two different steering wheels you could have a three spoke and a two spoke, the three spoke has a screw and tabs you push up to disengage, the two spoke has a simple pry off center cover.
