Why is my van is overheating. I am going to get a tune up, but will that help? It is also talking its time to shift up. I had the codes read and they suggested a tune up, but that was at an auto parts place. I need to know if that will help? Thank you.

What do you consider "overheating"? The gauge reading higher than normal light coming on or is it actually boiling over? Do you hear the cooling fan come on when it starts to heat up? How fast does it get hot? Does it seem to cool down if you are moving? Any white smoke out the exhaust?

A tune up on that engine is basically plugs and adjusting the valve clearance. The valves could make a small change but if it is actually overheating they will not do much for that.
