Severe oil leakag that started at once

Thanks, last night described vehicle, cut off while driving. Under hood saw much oil low on engine, oil check showed no oil, though when checked days earlier was full.
It appears to be leaking from an round part, that has wires, located at front of engine, under heads. And when started this morning steady flow of oil leakage?
I don't know what this part is? Sticks out from engine approx. 3 inched with 2-3 wires at tip of part.
