1996 Saturn SL2 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

i recently went thorught a large puddle of water a drove my car afterwar ds and it seemed fine. But I sat in a drive through and all of a sudden my car decides everytime I go to brake or downshift it wants to jump for a sec and then idle normal. Also it caused my check egine light to come on

Have the computer scanned for code/s-you have a problem within the engine management system that caused the CEL to turn on-This is your starting point of diagnosis, finding out what's going on.
