The engine started to rev up while driving and the "check engine" light came on. While driving or iddling the engine would rev up to 3000 rpm. I was told to replace the Iddle Control Valve. I did, however the engine was ok for a couple of hours only and then it stated to rev up again and then the engine would stall. When the engine stalls I have a hard time starting the car back up again. The next day however the car would start up again but begins to rev up again after a couple of minutes. I tried replacing the Fuel Pressure Regulator but that didn't help.

1st thing to do here is get the computer scanned for code/s over at Autozone its free service, this is your starting point you have a problem within the engine management syste. Your possibilities could be the idle air control valve, throttle position sensor, manifold absolute pressure sensor, intake air temperature sensor, and perform a fuel pressure, also check the EGR and PCV valves-

It will show the DTC's what components are causing the CEL to come on-For example P0401 which relates to the EGR valve-
