I was driving up my road when the shifter in the car went very loose and wobbly. I now cant get it to shift out of 3rd gear. I checked the linkage and that is not the problem. Any idea what is?

Did you check to make sure the cable's were properly attached at the transmission and the bottom of the inside shifter. The most common reason for that I have seen is the cable's coming unhooked. Let me know because if the canle's are good and the shifter is loose next thing to check is the transmission.

I have found whats wrong. There are 2 cables going from the shifter into the engine compartement. The first cable in their thats hooked to the linkage is coming out of the cable and it is all frayed. So im guessing I need a new cable

If the connector that hold's the cable on is just broke then they sell a repair kit for that. But if the cable is frayed then you will have to replace the cable.
