Transmission problem
1998 Saturn SL1 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

i have a 1998 saturn and I brought it from a friend and he was having transmisson problems. I brought another one and it stays in the high gear. This happen on both transmissions. What can I do to fix this problem? Its a pretty good car the engine runs really good and and its very clean and I dont want to get rid of it. So please tell me something on what I can do to fix this problem without taking this transmission out the car again.
and what are the chances this transmission going out.
or do you know if saturn had problems with there transmission.

With the little info I have so far not really the more detail the better. Keep this in mind I can't test drive your car to see how it's shifting or check it for code's etc.I asked you if you were saying it stay's in like 4th gear and won't down shift when it's supposed too? Also does it shift hard or slip etc?Does it shift better cold etc?Paint me a picture in my mind.

Could you please start your own question it makes it difficult to start a new question on someone else's question. Just to confusing for me and other users searching questions to help them. Start the question with this one is for Saturn Tech9 then they will leave it for me. Iam the Saturn factory trained tech on this site.

I have a 1999 Saturn sl2. It starts out very sluggish like it's in 3rd or 4th gear. It does not shift up or down not even manually. It has a 782 & a 783 code both referring to ratio problem.

I guess I don't know what you want. I just described what my car is doing. It won't shift up or down and it feels like it starts out in 3rd or 4th gear very slavishly and has a code 782 & 783 telling me it has ratio problems. It will not shift up or down manually as I drive it.
