I am having a problem with my Saturn's anti-theft device not allowing the car to start on occasion for five to fifteen minutes. The problem is becoming more prevalent as time goes on and the car gets more age and mileage on it.
Since I purchased the car used, I do not have any specific information about this security system, and any information would be greatly appreciated. I have heard that there may be a reset button somewhere, but realize also that if it were easy to locate, then a thief would also be able to take advantage of the the button and steal the car.
Is there any way to disarm the anti-theft system, or an easy way to find the location of the reset button?

My Saturn is a 2000 LS 4 door, 4 cylinder engine, with a 5 speed transmission. Any information you could give me about the anti-theft device would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Ur security system is part of the car it runs thru ur body control module u just have to fix it no bypassing it. So when ur car won't start does the security light flash while this is happening?Any other symptoms like door locks inop dome light inop fuel gauge inop etc. If u could check the bcm for codes and there was a b2960 or a b3033 then u probably have a bad passlock sensor which is part of the ignition housing where ur key goes. Or u have a bad body control module those are the two most common things for that car. They do once in a while get bad crank sensors which aren't very common on the 4cyclinder cars. Let me know more about what it does and doesn't do when it doesn't start.

None of the above happens when it refuses to start.

It turns over very well, almost like it is out of fuel, and after waiting 5 to 15 minutes, it always starts. So far, but I fear that sometime in the future it will not start at all, and will leave me stranded, unless I can get it repaired before this happens.

I can't help but think something is going to go out, and have no idea what it is.

Thanks for your responses,

cowgirl
