My Saturn idals fine but when I punch the gas the RPMs get up to about 3500-4000 and start jumping and the wont go up anymore. Its like Im redlining but im only halfway. It does it in all gears, but seems fine until I get to that point. Also when Im going up a hill I cant maintain speed or power and I slowly lose speed. Even when I downshift, I cant maintain speed.
Please Help!

Thanks,
Rob

Well if ur not moving and rev it up it will stop and cut out where ur saying it does that's the rev limter if ur car slowly loses power though I would suspect possibley a plugged cat.U can usually get that checked at a exhaust shop for free. Also do u have any trouble codes.

Sorry I didnt make it clearer. I meant that as im driving once it hits about 3500 RPMs it acts like it is redlining. It does it in all gears. The check engine light is NOT on so I dnt know what to do. And it definetely feels like it accelerates slower than normal. Any more advice id appreciate it.

Thanks
Rob

Well I think a plugged cat can still cause that problem have seen it alot if u restrict the exhaust then the engine will lose power and act like. We need to check that. Also low fuel pressure can cause that so checking the fuel presure would hurt ethier. Also have u ever changed the fuel filter?A restricted fuel filter would cut the volume of fuel down to the engine.U can check it by removing it and blowing thru the nipple side where the pump line from the tank attaches I know this sounds gross but it works it should blow very easy if it doesn't then it's clogged if u haven't changed it then it's clogged but check it for urself the new one is very free flowing. Those are my three top things to check. One other thing is ur coolant temp sensor there hard to check without a scan tool that doesn't read engine temp. There under 20 and they just screw into the head. That would be my fourth choice. So check those things out and let me know what u find. Also they have cheap fuel pressure gauges these days and some auto parts stores even rent tools.I would see if u can get a auto parts store to scan ur car for codes also would be a good idea. Let me know what u find.
