First off - thanks so much for doin what ya'll do!

This car is great! It was born back East, has driven a good portion of this continent and now lives in LALA land in Southern Cali still with its original NY plates!
After a recent trip to Tahoe, as a result of being burried in snow for a number of days the muffler is now detached from the undercarraige exhuast piping running to the engine. Aside from the where it is actually detached the rust factor it low. It appears like the muffler is fine.
Could this be as simple as reconnecting the muffler? I thought I should ask the experts after a friend mentioned the dreaded words "catalytic converter."
Please advise.
Thanks again.

Ideally I would just cut off the small rusted part of the tubing and clamp it back to the muffler. Or is it absolutely necessary to weld the connection.

thanks polarclown

First I would like to clarify what you are asking?

Are you asking if you can reconnect the exhaust pipe to where it broke off, if that is it then you should cut off the rusted parts and weld a new piece of exhaust piping in.

If thats not your question wha tare you asking?
